Exodus 29:1 Meaning This Is the Thing That You Shall

This is the thing that you shall do to them to make them holy, to minister to me in the priest’s office: take one young bull and two rams without defect,

What does Exodus 29:1 mean?

To make a person's faculties fit for inner service, the strong animal drives must be brought to the altar and offered. The bullock is the raw bodily power, the untamed generative and muscular force, and it is taken young because the vigor of the physical nature is surrendered at its fullest strength.

To make a person's faculties fit for inner service, the strong animal drives must be brought to the altar and offered. The bullock is the raw bodily power, the untamed generative and muscular force, and it is taken young because the vigor of the physical nature is surrendered at its fullest strength. Consecration begins by giving up, not suppressing, the very energies that would otherwise rule.

The 2 rams stand for the paired active forces of the will, the driving push of energy on both sides of the nature, and they must be without blemish because only unbroken, whole power is worthy to be lifted toward the higher. Preparing to minister within means taking the animal strength a person is made of and dedicating it upward, so that the priest, the awakened self that serves the divine, is formed out of the surrendered lower vigor.

Bullock: the raw untamed bodily power, the generative and muscular force offered at its full strength Rams: the paired active driving forces of the will, the push of energy on both sides of the nature Without blemish: the wholeness required of any power lifted toward the higher, unbroken and complete Priest: the awakened self within that serves the divine, formed out of surrendered lower vigor

Live Exodus 29:1 today

  1. Take whatever is burning in you today, restlessness, anger, that itch to do something, and put it into one real thing. A walk, a hard clean of the kitchen, an honest page written. Not suppressed, spent well.
  2. When you feel the pull to win an argument in a group chat, aim that same energy at the person instead of the point. Ask them a real question with all the force you were going to use to be right.
  3. When pressure spikes and your body wants to fight or flee, say inside yourself, this is strength and I get to choose where it goes. Then pick the smallest useful thing in front of you and do that.

What strong thing in me am I trying to shut off when I could be aiming it?

Hinduism · Bhagavad Gita 6

The senses are not killed, they are harnessed. The one who yokes a strong nature rather than starving it becomes steady.

Taoism · Inner Alchemy

The coarse energy of the body is not thrown away, it is refined. What drives you downward is the same force that can be turned upward.

Sufism · Rumi

The animal in you is a mount, not a master. Fed and reined, it carries you further than you could walk.
