Ego v. Being

There is a rhythm at the heart of things, a pause built into the movement of your days. Keeping it is not a rule but a remembering. When the doing stops, the noise in the mind settles, and something quieter comes forward that was always there beneath the striving.

This pause is the sign, the mark of a deeper relationship with the source of your own aliveness. You do not make yourself holy by effort. You become still, and in the stillness you feel that what gives you life was already at work in you, before any of your trying began.

Live Exodus 31:13 today

  1. Build one pause into today on purpose, the same time each week if you can. Not when you collapse, but chosen while you still have energy left to enjoy it.
  2. Eat one meal with someone where no phone is on the table. The pause becomes real when two people hold it together.
  3. Between two meetings or two errands, give yourself sixty seconds of doing nothing before the next thing starts. The gap is not wasted, it is what keeps the day from blurring.

What in me believes I have to earn the right to stop?

Return to stillness and you return to your root. Everything rushes outward and everything comes back, and knowing that steadiness is clarity.
