Exodus 33:18 Meaning Moses Said

Moses said, “Please show me your glory.”

What does Exodus 33:18 mean?

A person asks to see the glory of God, and the answer is that no one sees his own face until he sees it in the face of his son. The son is the figure in whom all of humanity is gathered into one, the anointed one who rises within a person and turns to call him Father, and that son carries the settled name David.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

A person asks to see the glory of God, and the answer is that no one sees his own face until he sees it in the face of his son. The son is the figure in whom all of humanity is gathered into one, the anointed one who rises within a person and turns to call him Father, and that son carries the settled name David. Until he appears you are hidden from yourself, a father who has never met his own child.

So the glory a person longs to see is not a light in the sky but his own origin looking back at him. When the son is known as your own being, you understand that you were never fathered by anything outside yourself. You are the source, the Father with no father behind him. That recognition is the glory, and it comes only through the son who reveals it.

Live Exodus 33:18 today

  1. Instead of asking what is wrong with you this morning, spend a minute asking what has been doing the looking all these years. Leave the question open rather than answering it.
  2. Look at one person today, a kid, a partner, a coworker on a call, long enough to recognize something of your own life looking back. Say something warm out of that recognition.
  3. When you feel small in a meeting or in traffic, remember that the awareness watching this is not small and did not come from the situation. Carry it out of the room with you.

Where have you been looking for something that was doing the looking?
