Ezekiel 1:12 Meaning Each One Went Straight Forward

Each one went straight forward: where the spirit was to go, they went. They didn’t turn when they went.

What does Ezekiel 1:12 mean?

The living creatures move without hesitation because nothing in them argues with the direction of life. They do not turn, not because a rule forbids it, but because there is no second self standing off to the side, weighing, doubting, wanting elsewhere.

Ego v. Being

The living creatures move without hesitation because nothing in them argues with the direction of life. They do not turn, not because a rule forbids it, but because there is no second self standing off to the side, weighing, doubting, wanting elsewhere. Whither the spirit was to go, they went. That is what a mind looks like when the endless inner commentary has fallen silent.

Most of us walk forward while half of us pulls backward, rehearsing the past, dreading the road. A person who is fully present in this step meets no such drag. The way opens, and they simply go.

Live Ezekiel 1:12 today

  1. Do one ordinary thing today with nothing else running: dishes, the walk to the car, folding laundry. No podcast, no phone in the other hand, no planning the evening.
  2. Give someone the whole of one conversation. Laptop closed, screen dark, no glancing. Follow where they are going instead of steering it back.
  3. When you have been circling a decision or a message all day, pick the next step and take it without the rerun. One small forward move beats another hour of rehearsing.

Where today was I walking forward while half of me pulled back?
