Ezekiel 11:24 Meaning The Spirit Lifted Me Up

The Spirit lifted me up, and brought me in the vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to the captives. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

What does Ezekiel 11:24 mean?

A man carried off in a vision travels without moving from the spot. Something in the mind can lift a person out of his surroundings and set him down among things far away, as vivid as waking life, and then let him go again.

Psychoanalysis

A man carried off in a vision travels without moving from the spot. Something in the mind can lift a person out of his surroundings and set him down among things far away, as vivid as waking life, and then let him go again.

These inner journeys are not nonsense to be dismissed. The place he is shown, the exiles he is brought to, are parts of his own soul living in a kind of captivity, cut off and waiting. When the vision lifts and ordinary sight returns, the task is to remember what was seen and bring it back into daily life rather than treating it as a dream to forget.

Live Ezekiel 11:24 today

  1. If a dream stays with you today, or a memory surfaces for no reason, give it five minutes before you decide it means nothing. Write one sentence about who in it felt stuck or far away.
  2. Think of someone you have quietly written off, an old friend, a family member you stopped texting. Part of your own life is parked with them. Send the message you have been drafting for a year.
  3. When you come back from something that moved you, a trip, a conversation, a long walk, resist the slide straight back into email. Ask what one thing you want to keep, then do something small that keeps it.

What have you seen clearly and then let yourself forget?

Taoism · Zhuangzi

Zhuangzi dreams he is a butterfly and wakes unsure which one is dreaming the other. He does not dismiss the dream, he lets it keep asking him something.

Sufism

The Sufis speak of a night journey of the soul that covers immense distance while the body stays where it is. What matters is what the traveler carries home.
