Ezekiel 13:20 Meaning Therefore the Lord Yahweh Says

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Behold, I am against your pillows, with which you hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms. I will let the souls go, even the souls whom you hunt to make them fly.

What does Ezekiel 13:20 mean?

There are soft comforts the mind offers that seem to soothe you while quietly holding you captive. They promise to let you fly and instead keep you bound, asleep to what you truly are.

Ego v. Being

There are soft comforts the mind offers that seem to soothe you while quietly holding you captive. They promise to let you fly and instead keep you bound, asleep to what you truly are. These are the pillows slipped beneath every head that would rather dream than wake.

When such comforts are torn away, it feels like loss. But the soul was never meant to be held in anyone's arms, least of all the ego's. Letting the captive go is not cruelty. Only when the false comfort is gone can you finally wake to the aliveness that needs no illusion to keep it going.

Live Ezekiel 13:20 today

  1. When you reach for your phone out of nothing in particular, set it down and sit with the plain, slightly uncomfortable moment instead. It passes faster than you expect.
  2. Tell someone close to you the real answer when they ask how you are, instead of the easy one. The easy answer keeps you both at a distance.
  3. When a hard feeling shows up today, skip the snack, the scroll, the drink, and just let it be there for two minutes. It softens when you stop running.

What am I using to keep from feeling this?
