Ezekiel 28:14 Meaning You Were the Anointed Cherub Who Covers

You were the anointed cherub who covers. Then I set you up on the holy mountain of God. You have walked up and down in the middle of the stones of fire.

What does Ezekiel 28:14 mean?

The one addressed is the covering brain itself, the anointed cerebrum spread over the mystical mind like the wings that hide the mercy seat. The cherub that covereth is the right hemisphere concealing the unseen, the part of the head set in place to shelter what is holy within.

The one addressed is the covering brain itself, the anointed cerebrum spread over the mystical mind like the wings that hide the mercy seat. The cherub that covereth is the right hemisphere concealing the unseen, the part of the head set in place to shelter what is holy within. This is the mythic figure the old stories tell as Lucifer beside Saturn and God, the bright covering power that once walked the height.

The holy mountain is the higher realms of consciousness, the summit of the head where the light is known. To walk up and down among the stones of fire is to move through the burning points of spirit set into that high ground, the sparks of consciousness that light the inner peak. Spirit is fire, and these are its embers underfoot. The passage speaks of a covering intelligence placed at the top of a person, moving over the head among the fires of the awakened mind, before it turns and falls.

Live Ezekiel 28:14 today

  1. Catch yourself today at the moment you feel smartest, the flash where you know the answer before anyone finishes talking. That exact feeling is the edge, so breathe once and let the thought stay unspoken a beat longer.
  2. In a group chat or a meeting, let someone else be right about something you also understood. You keep the clarity, you just stop using it to stand above the room.
  3. When stress has you running hot and sharp, name it out loud to yourself: this is the bright part of me about to turn mean. Naming it is usually enough to stop the turn.

Where is my clearest, highest thinking quietly being used to cover something instead of to see?

Bhagavad Gita 6

The same faculty that lifts a person can throw them down, because the mind is friend to the one who masters it and enemy to the one who does not. The height itself is where the fall becomes possible.

Zen · Dogen

Students who gain a glimpse of clear light often take it for an attainment and begin to guard it. That guarding is the beginning of losing it, which is why the teaching says to let even your realization go.

Tao Te Ching 9

What is filled to the brim spills. Standing at the highest point is the least stable place to stand, so the sage does not reach for the summit and call it home.
