Ezekiel 34:22 Meaning Therefore I Will Save My Flock

therefore I will save my flock, and they will no more be a prey. I will judge between sheep and sheep.

What does Ezekiel 34:22 mean?

The gathered energies of a person, long preyed upon by the scattering appetites, are drawn back under the care of the inner shepherd, the ruling awareness that owns them. The flock is the herd of thoughts and vital forces that had wandered leaderless and been devoured by the stronger, greedier drives within.

The gathered energies of a person, long preyed upon by the scattering appetites, are drawn back under the care of the inner shepherd, the ruling awareness that owns them. The flock is the herd of thoughts and vital forces that had wandered leaderless and been devoured by the stronger, greedier drives within. Now the higher self reclaims them and sets a division between beast and beast, sorting the coarse animal energies that trample and consume from the ones fit to be kept and fed. This judging between cattle is the inner discrimination that separates the useful forces from the destructive ones grazing in the same body. What was helpless prey becomes a protected herd under a single governing eye.

The awakened self takes charge of a person's own inner energies, guards them from being eaten by the raw appetites, and separates the beneficial forces from the ruinous ones sharing the same ground.

The flock: the gathered thoughts and vital forces of a person, the herd the ruling awareness owns and tends Cattle and cattle: the coarse animal energies grazing in the body, the greedy drives sorted from the useful ones

Live Ezekiel 34:22 today

  1. Take five minutes alone and write down the three appetites that ate your day: the scroll, the snack, the argument you kept rehearsing. Seeing them listed is the first act of standing over them instead of under them.
  2. In one conversation today, listen for which of your impulses wants to speak, the helpful one or the one that just wants to win. Let the first one talk and keep the second one on a short rope.
  3. Under pressure, before you fire off the email or the reply, ask whether this urge is feeding something good or just feeding itself. You do not have to kill the impulse, only decide which ones you let out of the gate.

Which of my own drives have I let run loose for so long that I stopped calling them mine?

Bhagavad Gita 6

A person must lift themselves by their own self, since the self is the only shepherd available. Left ungoverned, the same self becomes the thing that drags them down.

The cowherd counts and tends the cattle, and the practitioner watches the mind the same way, patiently, daily. Guarded thoughts graze safely; unguarded ones are taken.

Every impression that arrives must be examined before it is accepted as true or acted on. Sorting what deserves your assent from what merely shouts loudest is the whole work.
