Ezekiel 37:26 Meaning Moreover I Will Make a Covenant

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them. It will be an everlasting covenant with them. I will place them, multiply them, and will set my sanctuary among them forever more.

What does Ezekiel 37:26 mean?

The peace being promised is not an agreement between two parties who might later quarrel. It is everlasting because it does not depend on circumstance.

Ego v. Being

The peace being promised is not an agreement between two parties who might later quarrel. It is everlasting because it does not depend on circumstance. It is the stillness that remains when you stop resisting this moment and let it be as it is.

The sanctuary is set in the midst of the people, not in some distant place. This is the whole teaching. What you seek is not far away or in the future. The deep quiet you are looking for is already here, at the center of your own presence. Come home to that inner space, and you find you were always dwelling in it.

Live Ezekiel 37:26 today

  1. Find two minutes somewhere ordinary today, the car before you go in, the kitchen before anyone is up, and stop asking the moment to be different. Just let it be what it is.
  2. The next time a conversation gets prickly, let the other person be exactly as they are for one minute without correcting them inside your head. The calm you keep there is real calm.
  3. When the day goes wrong, late train, bad news, a plan collapsing, try saying quietly that this is how it is right now. The fight you drop is where the peace comes from.

Am I waiting for my life to settle before I let myself be still?

Tao Te Ching 16

Return to stillness and you return to your root. Everything else rises and falls, but that quiet does not depend on anything.

Upanishads

The one you are searching for lives in the small space within your own heart. You travel the world to find what was never anywhere else.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

People look for retreats by the sea or in the hills when they could step into themselves at any hour. Nowhere is quieter than your own mind at rest.
