Ezekiel 40:26 Meaning There Were Seven Steps to Go Up

There were seven steps to go up to it, and its arches were before them. It had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, on its posts.

What does Ezekiel 40:26 mean?

The ascent by 7 steps is the climb of consciousness up through the sevenfold ladder within the body to the gate of the inner temple. The number 7 symbolizes the completed spiritual scale, the 7 centers or stages a person mounts along the spine from the lower ground to the higher chamber, and each step lifts the awareness nearer the sanctuary that is the body itself.

The gateway stands at the top of this rise, the threshold where the outer courts give way to the holy.

On either side of the posts the palm trees stand, and these are the upright columns of victory, the twinned pillars of the risen life-force flanking the way in. The 2 palms on this side and that mark the balanced ascent, the current rising evenly on both sides of the central passage into the temple of the reborn self.

Live Ezekiel 40:26 today

  1. Pick one small thing you keep putting off and do only the first piece of it today. Not the whole climb, just the first stair, which is the only one actually available to you.
  2. With someone who is struggling, resist handing them the summary of what they should see. Walk one step with them instead, since nobody arrives at an understanding by being told the ending.
  3. When you feel behind and want to jump straight to the fixed version of your life, name the single next action and do that. The height is real, you just reach it one ordinary step at a time.

Which stair am I actually standing on, and have I been pretending I am further up?

The teaching is laid out as stages, each one resting on the one below it, because insight ripens by degrees. No step can be skipped by wanting the view at the top.

Taoism · Tao Te Ching 64

The journey of a thousand miles begins under your feet, and the tall tree grew from something barely visible. Growth is step on step, and hurrying it is how people fall.

Hinduism · the Upanishads

The sheaths of a person are described one inside the next, from body to breath to mind to the still center. You come to the innermost by passing through each, in order.
