Ezekiel 43:2 · World English Bible

Ezekiel 43:2 Meaning Behold

Behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east. His voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth was illuminated with his glory.

What does Ezekiel 43:2 mean?

The glory arrives from the east because the east is the right side of the brain, and turning inward toward that side is what floods a person with light and a deep settled peace. The spirit and mind and God-within, unified, are the source of that light, and it rises the way dawn rises, not from a horizon out in the world but from the higher hemisphere waking inside the skull.

The voice like many waters is the low roaring vibration of creation itself, the sound the mind hears when the inner powers begin to move as one.

And the mind itself brightens under it, the whole inner ground lit from within once the turn to the right side is made.

Live Ezekiel 43:2 today

  1. Sometime today, put the phone face down and sit still for two minutes with your eyes closed, no music, no podcast. Let the low hum of the room and your own breathing be the only thing you listen to, and see what settles.
  2. When someone is talking to you at dinner or on a walk, drop the rehearsing of your reply and just take in their face and voice. The warmth you feel for them does not come from them, it rises in you when you stop managing the moment.
  3. Stuck in traffic or standing in a slow grocery line, resist the reach for the screen. Let your attention fall inward for the length of the wait, and the same wait becomes quiet instead of wasted.

Where is the light you keep looking for in your circumstances actually coming on?

Upanishads

The light people look for in the sun or the sky is already shining in the cave of the heart. Turn attention inward and you find the one lamp by which everything else is seen.

Zen · Dogen

Stop chasing after words and outside things, and take the backward step that turns the light to shine inward. Then body and mind drop away on their own and your original face appears.

Sufism · Rumi

Do not search the world for the sun, the sun rises inside you. The roar you hear when you go quiet is the same music that set the whole world turning.
