Ezekiel 47:5 Meaning Afterward He Measured One Thousand

Afterward he measured one thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass through; for the waters had risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be walked through.

What does Ezekiel 47:5 mean?

Capacity gets issued while you are moving, which is why the edge of anything never feels survivable from the edge. Water that would drown a person standing ankle-deep at the bank carries them a thousand cubits in, and nothing has changed about the water.

Capacity gets issued while you are moving, which is why the edge of anything never feels survivable from the edge.

Water that would drown a person standing ankle-deep at the bank carries them a thousand cubits in, and nothing has changed about the water. Each measured advance builds exactly what the next depth requires, so the belief moves from this will take me under to this will hold me, the state steadies, and the steadier state makes the following thousand possible.

The river pours out of the sanctuary and it does not rise for anyone admiring it from dry ground. Depth is granted to the walking. Waiting at the shallows for proof of buoyancy keeps a person ankle-deep for life, skilled only at what the shallows ask of them.

Live Ezekiel 47:5 today

  1. Take the one step you have been studying from a safe distance, today, alone, before you feel ready. Open the document, dial the number, start the first paragraph, and let the rest become clear once you are moving.
  2. Ask someone a little further in than you what the first month actually felt like for them. Most people will tell you they were just as unsure, and that the water held once they were in it.
  3. When something lands on you at work that feels past your depth, keep your hands moving instead of freezing to assess. Do the next small piece in front of you, and let the ability show up on the way.

What have I been waiting at the edge of, hoping for proof before I move?

Tao Te Ching 64

A thousand mile walk begins under your own feet, and the ground you need next appears only because you took the step before it.

Zen

The teaching is to walk on, and the way opens as you walk. Standing still at the edge to calculate whether the path will hold you keeps you on the edge.

Stoicism · Seneca

We suffer more in imagination than in reality. The fear you feel from the bank is measuring water you have not yet entered.
