Galatians 4:22 Meaning For It Is Written That Abraham Had

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant, and one by the free woman.

What does Galatians 4:22 mean?

The two sons are two births, and both are states you pass through, not two men who once lived. The son of the bondmaid is your first birth, the birth of the flesh, the ordinary self born of a woman and bound to the body and its senses.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The two sons are two births, and both are states you pass through, not two men who once lived. The son of the bondmaid is your first birth, the birth of the flesh, the ordinary self born of a woman and bound to the body and its senses. The son of the freewoman is the second birth, from above, the awakening of imagination within you, and it alone is free. Abraham fathers both because the one being in you gives rise to each state in its turn.

Bondage is trusting only what the senses report and living as the mortal, enslaved man. Freedom comes only when the higher self is born out of your own skull, as surely as a child forms in a womb, and stands as the free son. The mortal born of the body is not the end of you. The free man is imagination itself, awake and formed within, no longer a slave to the world he sees.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The one root faith in a person brings forth 2 kinds of offspring, 2 lives born from the same source but under different mothers. One is fathered upon the servant nature and comes out bound, the child of the flesh and its law, tied to the body and its compulsions.

The other is born of the free nature and comes out unbound, the child of spirit and promise, belonging to the higher life that is under no bondage. The same inner ground yields both the enslaved self and the liberated self, and which one a person lives as depends on which mother the life is drawn through.

Abraham: the one root faith in a person from which both the bound and the free life are born The bondmaid: the servant nature of the flesh that bears the enslaved self, tied to the body and its law The freewoman: the free nature of spirit that bears the liberated self, born of promise and under no bondage

Live Galatians 4:22 today

  1. Sometime today when your senses hand you bad news, a number, a face, a silence, hold the picture you actually want for one slow minute before you react to the report.
  2. In a conversation today, catch the moment you start describing yourself by your limits. Say the true thing instead, without the apology attached.
  3. Under pressure, the late train, the tight budget, remind yourself that the stressed version of you is a state you are in, not the whole of you. You can step out of a state.

Which of the two is doing the living in me today?

The first arrow is the event. The second arrow is the self that takes it personally, and that one is optional.

Some things are in our power and some are not. Freedom begins the moment you stop living as if the second kind owns you.
