Galatians 4:26 Meaning But the Jerusalem That Is Above Is

Jerusalem above is a state of consciousness, the freedom of the second birth, and it is called the mother of us all because every person is born anew out of it. This is set against the Jerusalem below, the bondage of physical birth and life lived from the senses. To be free is to be delivered from that lower state into the awareness of being the creative power itself.

The characters of Scripture are inner states a soul passes through, not people who once walked the earth, and this higher city names the state in which a person is reborn from above. Christ is formed in you the way a child forms in a womb, and the mother that bears him is this freedom. The person who enters that state is no longer ruled by circumstance, for he is born of the one condition that gives rise to everyone.

There are 2 Jerusalems because there are 2 centers in a person, and the higher one sits above, at the single eye behind the brow where the pineal gland waits in the middle of the head. The lower city is bound to the flesh and its cravings; the city above is free because it answers to spirit, not to the pull of the body. It is called the mother of all because every awakened thought is born there first, in that quiet high room, before it ever moves down into the life a person lives.

The freedom is not a place beyond the sky. It is the release felt when awareness climbs out of the belly and the appetites and rests in the crown of the skull.

Jerusalem above: the higher center at the brow and crown, the pineal seat where spirit governs and thought is born free of the body's demands. Jerusalem below: the lower self bound to the flesh, its appetites and its fears.
