Empires begin with one ambitious man and a plain wide enough to hold his vision. The naming of these first cities names a permanent human temptation. To build a kingdom is to gather scattered people under one will, which can raise a civilization or a tyranny depending on what that will is bent toward.

Babel sits at the head of the list. That placement warns about where such gathering can go. Concentrated power that forgets what it serves turns the tower into an idol and the builders into its instruments. The question is never merely whether you can build, but what you are building toward. Ambition without a higher aim becomes a cage.

Live Genesis 10:10 today

  1. Ask what the thing you are grinding at is actually for. Write the answer in one sentence, and if it is only about you looking impressive, change the sentence.
  2. When you are the one steering, the project, the family plan, the group trip, ask one person who has to live with it what they would change, and actually change something.
  3. Next time you have the leverage in a conversation, the budget, the final say, the louder voice, use it for whoever has the least room in the room. Say the quiet person's idea back with their name on it.

What am I building, and who else is better off if it works?
