Genesis 11:3 Meaning They Said to One Another

They said to one another, “Come, let’s make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.

What does Genesis 11:3 mean?

The builders trade the true stone for brick, and this is the mind choosing the manufactured over the given. The stone is the pineal gland, the single hard point in the head where the higher light gathers; brick is slime baked hard, mud drawn up from the lower parts of the body and shaped by human hands.

The builders trade the true stone for brick, and this is the mind choosing the manufactured over the given. The stone is the pineal gland, the single hard point in the head where the higher light gathers; brick is slime baked hard, mud drawn up from the lower parts of the body and shaped by human hands. Reaching for heaven with baked mud is the story of consciousness scattering itself into competing tribes and denominations, each raising its own tower of borrowed opinion.

What is lost is the real center. A person can pile up beliefs made from the lower nature and never touch the gland that was meant to hold the light.

Stone: the pineal gland, the natural single point in the head where the higher light gathers Brick: slime and mud baked hard from the lower parts of the body, belief made by human hands Slime: the crude matter of the lower nature used as mortar to bind a false structure

Live Genesis 11:3 today

  1. Take one belief you repeat often, about yourself, about how people are, about God, and ask honestly where you got it. If the answer is that you absorbed it somewhere, you are allowed to set it down and look again.
  2. In a conversation today, give up the argument you already have ready. Ask the other person a real question instead and sit with the answer. Stacking better points is not the same as understanding anything.
  3. When you feel the pull to join the pile-on, the thread where everyone agrees and is getting louder, stay out. Groups build tall things fast and the ground under them is usually mud. Go quiet and check what you actually think.

How much of what I believe did I build out of borrowed material, and what is actually mine?

The way is found by subtracting, not by heaping up. Piling on more and more cleverness takes you further from what was already there.

Zen · Direct seeing

Zen keeps saying, do not mistake the finger for the moon. Teachings and doctrines are pointers, and a tower of them can block the very thing they point at.

Buddhism · The raft

The teaching says a raft is for crossing the river, not for carrying on your head afterward. Hold any belief that way, or it becomes luggage you build your life around.
