Genesis 12:2 Meaning I Will Make of You a Great

I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

What does Genesis 12:2 mean?

The promise of increase is love describing what the mind becomes when it stops shrinking behind its defenses. A great nation is not a multitude added from outside but the extension of a single healed thought, which spreads because it withholds nothing.

The promise of increase is love describing what the mind becomes when it stops shrinking behind its defenses. A great nation is not a multitude added from outside but the extension of a single healed thought, which spreads because it withholds nothing. What is given without loss multiplies, and the mind discovers it was made to give.

The greatness of the name is not reputation earned before others. It is the recognition of who the mind truly is once fear no longer names it. A blessing is not something the mind performs; it is what the mind is when it has chosen love, so that its very presence extends peace to everything it meets.

Nation: the abundance of loving thoughts that flow from one mind at peace, the increase that comes from giving rather than keeping Name: the true identity the mind carries once fear no longer defines it, what it is called when seen in love

Aim a man correctly and the good he does radiates past anything he can measure. A single person ordered toward the highest thing becomes a nation, a source others draw from without knowing where the water came from. The promise is not merely reward. A man is responsible not only for what he does but, in some strange and expanding measure, for what everyone he touches goes on to do. Set yourself right and the effect will not stay contained.

The blessing runs outward on one condition, that a person offer what he loves to a destiny above himself rather than smothering it. A father who clutches his child in the name of compassion strangles the very future he means to protect. Bless and be a blessing means release the good into the world instead of hoarding it. Become the best of what you are, and you will feed people you never meet.

Live Genesis 12:2 today

  1. Send the message you have been meaning to send, the thank-you, the good word, the thing you thought and never said. Give it without needing a reply.
  2. Say out loud to someone the good thing you usually only think about them. Specific, not general. Watch what it does to the room.
  3. In a tense meeting, when the instinct is to protect your corner, give credit away instead. There is more of it than the room believes.

What would I give today if I stopped keeping score?
