Genesis 13:3 · World English Bible
He went on his journeys from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
After straying into the land of fear and its bargains, the mind retraces its steps to the ground where it first stood clear. This return is not travel across a map but the turning of attention back to where it last knew peace.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
After straying into the land of fear and its bargains, the mind retraces its steps to the ground where it first stood clear. This return is not travel across a map but the turning of attention back to where it last knew peace. What was abandoned in fear can be recovered, because the place of clarity was never destroyed, only left.
Between the house of God and the place of ruin, the mind arrives once more at the point of decision it had wandered from. The beginning it seeks is the state of mind before it chose to defend and deceive. Coming back to that spot is the recognition that the choice for love is always available again, exactly where it was first made.
Bethel: the house of God within, the presence of love the mind turns toward Hai: the place of ruin and separation, the ego's outcome that stands opposite Tent: the mind's earlier resting place in clarity, the ground of peace it left and can return to
Christian Psychology lens
Where was I last at peace, and what would it cost me to simply return?
Returning to the root is the way of stillness. All things go out and come back, and the coming back is not failure but nature.
After the wandering, the old practice is waiting exactly as you left it. You begin again at the cushion, which is the only place beginning ever happens.
Turning back is always open. The road home is the same road you walked away on.
