Genesis 14:20 · World English Bible

Genesis 14:20 Meaning Blessed Be God Most High

Blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave him a tenth of all.

What does Genesis 14:20 mean?

Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of the most high, is the settled peace-center at the crown of the being, the part in a person that owes allegiance to no lower ruler and holds the office of blessing over all the rest. The tithe given to him is the tenth portion, the reserved share of every gain that the lower self returns upward to its source.

The tithe given to him is the tenth portion, the reserved share of every gain that the lower self returns upward to its source. Every victory won in the field of the emotions is not kept whole by the one who fought; a part is lifted back to the high center that made the strength possible.

The enemies delivered into the hand are the warring appetites overcome, and their spoils are not hoarded at the level of struggle but tithed to the peace above the struggle. The one who conquers acknowledges that the conquering strength came from higher, and returns a portion to keep the channel open.

Live Genesis 14:20 today

  1. After something goes well today, take a quiet moment and say to yourself that you did not make the whole of it. The strength, the health, the timing, the help, most of it arrived.
  2. When you win a disagreement or land a point, give some of it back out loud. Name what the other person got right, even if you were mostly right.
  3. Set aside a tenth of something you gained this week, time, money, attention, and give it where it does nothing for you. Keep the channel open by actually using it.

When I come out on top, how much of the credit do I quietly keep that was never mine?

The one who finishes a work and does not claim it keeps the power to do more. Credit held onto is credit spent.

Stoicism · Epictetus

The strength you used was lent to you. Use it well and give thanks for it, rather than calling it your own invention.

Judaism · Pirkei Avot

Give back to the giver what was already the giver's, since you and all you hold come from that source. The portion set aside is what keeps the giver in view.
