CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

A mind that cannot wait on truth builds its own plan instead. Feeling barren, certain that love has withheld what it promised, it turns to a substitute and calls the delay a lack. This is the ego's counsel, always urging the mind to seize an outcome rather than trust the one already given. What looks like restraint from outside is only the mind's own impatience, unwilling to let the gift arrive in its own way.

The part that should have stood firm listens instead to fear, and every arrangement made from fear breeds the very trouble it hoped to escape.

Sarai: the impatient mind that mistrusts what it was promised and rushes to arrange its own answer Maid: the substitute the mind reaches for when it will not wait, the ego's shortcut that seems to solve but only complicates Abram: the deeper self meant to stand in faith, here yielding its voice to fear's counsel

When a need for standing can see only one road, the household pays what that shortcut costs for generations.

A belief about what is closed narrows the vehicles a person can see, and a need left with one road takes it regardless of who is standing on that road. Continuity and standing were real hungers, and reading Yahweh's restraint as a final verdict leaves a single vehicle in sight, built out of someone else's body.

That reading set the emotion, urgency then passed for wisdom, and a husband who listened without weighing turned a private conclusion into a household's history. A need of the personality met through another person sends the bill to that person, arriving here as a rivalry that outlives everyone who signed for it.

Live Genesis 16:2 today

  1. Pick the one thing you have been pushing because the waiting felt unbearable, and do nothing about it for a full day. See whether the urgency was ever really about the thing.
  2. Stop asking the one person you keep asking for reassurance, just for today. If the question comes up, sit with it instead of handing it to them.
  3. When the deadline or the silence tempts you into a workaround you know is not right, hold off one more day before you act. Shortcuts taken in a panic are the ones you spend months undoing.

What am I forcing because I stopped believing it would come on its own?

Tao Te Ching 64

Forcing an outcome ruins it. The one who grabs loses the thing, and the one who lets it ripen gets it whole.

Zen

A student asked how long until he would master this. The teacher said ten years, and when the student asked what if he worked twice as hard, the teacher said twenty.

Bhagavad Gita 2

Do the work in front of you and let go of your grip on the result. The grasping is what makes the doing anxious and the outcome bitter.
