Genesis 2:8 · World English Bible

Genesis 2:8 Meaning Yahweh God Planted a Garden Eastward

Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.

What does Genesis 2:8 mean?

The garden is the mind's original condition, a state of provision and peace in which nothing is lacking and nothing need be defended. To be placed there is to be given a home in truth, a settled awareness where every need is already met and the frightened striving of the ego has no reason to begin.

The garden is the mind's original condition, a state of provision and peace in which nothing is lacking and nothing need be defended. To be placed there is to be given a home in truth, a settled awareness where every need is already met and the frightened striving of the ego has no reason to begin. Eastward, toward the dawn, is the direction of light, the mind turned to face what love reveals rather than the shadows behind it.

A mind was created in this abundance and lives there still, though it dreams of exile. Its return is not a journey across distance but a change of what it looks upon, a willingness to see that it was placed in plenty and never truly left. The garden is not a place you find; it is the peace you were always given.

Garden: the mind's native state of wholeness and supply, the inner condition where nothing is missing and nothing must be guarded. Eden, eastward: the direction of light and dawning truth, the mind turned toward its Source rather than toward its fears.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

Eden means delight, and the planting of a garden is the arrangement of the awakened nervous system inside a person, watered and green while the higher mind moves through it. Eastward is the direction of sunrise, the point where light enters, so the garden is fixed at the place in the head where consciousness dawns rather than in any far country. The formed man is not the first of a race but the pattern of every embodied soul, set down in the pleasure-ground of its own senses.

What unfolds is the housing of awareness in a body built to feel joy, planted at the rising side where the light comes in.

Eden: the delight-ground of the awakened body, lush while higher mind flows through it Garden: the ordered nervous system, planted and tended within the head Eastward: the sunrise point of the skull where consciousness first receives light

Live Genesis 2:8 today

  1. Before you add one more thing to the list, stop and name three things you already have that you were once hoping for. It takes a minute and it changes the whole day's temperature.
  2. With your family tonight, drop the comparison to how someone else's family seems to be doing. The dinner in front of you is the real one.
  3. When scarcity hits, a bill, a deadline, a sense that there is not enough time, turn toward what is actually in front of you rather than the lack you are picturing. Facing the dawn is a direction you can choose.

What have you been searching for that was already sitting in the room with you?
