Genesis 24:4 Meaning But You Shall Go to My Country
But you shall go to my country, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac.

Genesis 24:4 · World English Bible
But you shall go to my country, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac.
The country and kindred are the deeper native ground of a person's own being, the original source-nature from which the true faculties spring, as opposed to the foreign land of borrowed, outward influences. To go back to one's own country is to return inward to the root of the self and draw the joining partner from there, not from the surrounding world of the senses.

ESOTERIC
The country and kindred are the deeper native ground of a person's own being, the original source-nature from which the true faculties spring, as opposed to the foreign land of borrowed, outward influences. To go back to one's own country is to return inward to the root of the self and draw the joining partner from there, not from the surrounding world of the senses. Only what belongs to a person's own source can be truly wedded to the higher part of the mind.
Isaac, whose name opens as laughter, is the faculty of inner joy already born in a person, and the wife sought for him is the receptive power that must be found in the same native ground, so that joy is paired with what shares its own nature rather than with anything foreign.
Country and kindred: the deeper native ground of a person's own being, the original source-nature the true faculties spring from. Wife: the receptive, feeling power drawn to be joined to a faculty of the self. Isaac: the faculty of inner joy, the laughter already born within a person that seeks its own matching nature.

How much of what I want right now did I actually pick, and how much did I absorb?
Students are asked to find the face they had before their parents were born, meaning the self that was never borrowed from anyone. What is truly yours was there before the influences arrived.
You do not have to travel far to know what matters. The way back to what is real runs inward, not outward.
Better to do your own work imperfectly than someone else's work well. Borrowed paths wear a person out, even when they look impressive.
