Genesis 24:48 Meaning I Bowed My Head

I bowed my head, and worshiped Yahweh, and blessed Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to take my master’s brother’s daughter for his son.

What does Genesis 24:48 mean?

Having seen the joining arranged before its eyes, the mind bows again in gratitude, understanding that it was led rather than left to grope. The right way was not found by searching but given, and the recognition of this is the whole of worship: the small self stepping down so that guidance may be thanked.

Christian Psychology

Having seen the joining arranged before its eyes, the mind bows again in gratitude, understanding that it was led rather than left to grope. The right way was not found by searching but given, and the recognition of this is the whole of worship: the small self stepping down so that guidance may be thanked. What the mind sought within its own household was brought to it, and it knows the leading was true.

This lowering is not loss but rest. The thought that once feared it must manage everything alone gives thanks that a wiser direction carried it exactly where it needed to go, and it can trust that same leading again.

Bowed head: the ego stepping down, the small self surrendering its claim to have found its own way My master Abraham: the higher purpose the mind serves, the trusting thought whose promise is being kept My master's brother's daughter: the completion drawn from the mind's own kindred, the part of itself the leading brings home His son: the beloved self for whom the joining was prepared, the promise the mind serves

  1. Write down three things that went well lately that you did not engineer. Read the list slowly and let yourself be grateful rather than analytical.
  2. Thank someone specifically for something they did that made your path easier, and name the detail so they know you saw it.
  3. When you feel the pull to control a situation that is not yours to control, loosen your grip on one piece of it. Hand it over and let the relief be real.

What am I still trying to carry that was never mine to manage?
