Genesis 25:25 Meaning The First Came Out Red All Over

The first came out red all over, like a hairy garment. They named him Esau.

What does Genesis 25:25 mean?

Esau, the firstborn, red and covered like a rough coat, is the outer body, the sense-man, the garment you wear and mistake for yourself. He comes first because the physical self always seems to arrive first and claim the birthright, loud and hairy and obvious to the senses.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

Esau, the firstborn, red and covered like a rough coat, is the outer body, the sense-man, the garment you wear and mistake for yourself. He comes first because the physical self always seems to arrive first and claim the birthright, loud and hairy and obvious to the senses.

But the firstborn is only the covering. Behind Esau waits Jacob, the hidden center of imagining, the inner self that is your true identity and cannot be tarnished by anything the outer man goes through. The two are not two people in a distant story; they are the sense-man and the imaginative man living in you now. The self you see in the mirror is Esau, the garment. The one imagining behind it is who you actually are.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The red, hairy one born first is the flesh, the animal outer man who always arrives before the inner. Red is the earth, the clay of Adam, the blood-driven body that opens its eyes on the world of the senses first and claims the birthright of a life by simple priority. The hair covering him like a garment is the coarse sensory nature, the beast-coat a person wears over the finer self still hidden inside.

Esau is that earthy firstborn in everyone, the body-consciousness that comes into a life ahead of the spiritual twin and rules until the younger, quieter self learns to take its place.

Esau: the red earthy body-man, the flesh born first and ruling first Red: the blood and clay of the animal nature, the earth a person is drawn from Hairy garment: the coarse coat of the senses worn over the inner self

Live Genesis 25:25 today

  1. Standing at the mirror or the bathroom sink, let the face in front of you be the coat and not the person. Ask who is doing the looking, then go about your morning.
  2. When you want to say something about your appearance today, how tired you look, how much weight you carry, keep it in. Talk to the person in front of you from behind your face rather than about it.
  3. When a photo, a comment, or your own reflection in a dark train window stings, let the sting pass through the coat. Say once to yourself, that is not the part of me that was hurt.

If the face is only the coat, who has been wearing it all this time?

The body is the chariot and the senses are the horses, but the rider is someone else entirely. People spend their lives talking to the horses.

Tao Te Ching 11

The clay is useful because of the space inside the pot. The part you can touch is not the part that holds anything.
