Genesis 27:24 · World English Bible
He said, “Are you really my son Esau?” He said, “I am.”
A mind can only claim to be what it believes it is not, and every false answer is the belief in separation given a voice. Standing before love and naming itself something borrowed, the mind is not so much lying to another as insisting it is not the innocent son it truly is.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
A mind can only claim to be what it believes it is not, and every false answer is the belief in separation given a voice. Standing before love and naming itself something borrowed, the mind is not so much lying to another as insisting it is not the innocent son it truly is. The question sounds like suspicion, yet it is love reaching toward the real identity beneath the assumed one.
The correction is simple though it feels impossible from inside the disguise. When the mind stops defending the counterfeit self and lets love answer for it, the true son and the pretender are seen to have been one all along, and both are held as innocent.
Father: the presence of love in the mind that asks after the true self, not to accuse but to recognize Son: the identity the mind puts on and defends, the assumed self standing in for the one that was always loved
Christian Psychology lens
What am I pretending to be today that I would be loved just as much without?
The teacher keeps asking who you are until every borrowed answer runs out. The question was never an accusation, it was an invitation to stop performing.
Ask what you actually are and each costume falls away, the job, the reputation, the role. What is left was never in danger and needed no defending.
You spend years knocking on the door and when it opens you find you were knocking from the inside. The self you were defending was already home.
