The spirit is called to turn back toward its own source. Jacob is that spirit in a person, and the land of the fathers is the right hemisphere of the brain, the higher ground the current came from before it went wandering into the affairs of the world. The whole movement here is a turning homeward, the awareness leaving the outer labor and setting its face toward the still region within where it belongs.

The promise of company on the road is the higher mind confirming that this inward return is never made alone; the moment the spirit turns back toward its origin, the higher awareness is already present with it, guiding the climb home.

Jacob: the spirit in a person, the awareness that has wandered into the world and is now called back The land of thy fathers: the right hemisphere of the brain, the higher ground the current first came from The LORD: the higher mind, the inner voice that calls the spirit home and travels with it

Live Genesis 31:3 today

  1. Pick one moment in the day, the commute, the walk to the car, the kettle boiling, and let it be the turn back in. Phone in your pocket, eyes up, nothing to produce.
  2. Call or sit with the person who knows you from before all this, the one you do not have to explain yourself to. Let the conversation be about nothing useful.
  3. When the day gets loud and you feel yourself scattering, stop for three breaths and come back to the quiet place behind your own eyes. You are not alone in there.

What have you wandered far from that would welcome you back today?
