When a mind long ruled by fear meets one who has let love become its guide, it recognizes something it cannot manufacture from its own strategies. CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
When a mind long ruled by fear meets one who has let love become its guide, it recognizes something it cannot manufacture from its own strategies. The seeking part, which has scanned every dungeon and dream for an answer, stumbles on the plain fact that peace lives only in the one who has stopped defending. What it calls the Spirit of God is simply a mind that has chosen the other teacher, and its presence is unmistakable because nothing in it is afraid.
The question is really a decision beginning to form. Even the most anxious ruler can see that the calm it envies belongs to a mind at peace with itself, and that such peace is not found by searching the world but by joining the one who has already made the choice.
Pharaoh: the ruling part of the mind that governs by fear and now senses its own inadequacy Servants: the busy faculties that scan and strive on the ego's behalf, sent out to find what striving cannot supply The man in whom the Spirit of God is: a mind that has changed teachers and rests in love, whose peace the fearful ruler can recognize but not counterfeit

The highest good is like water, which benefits everything and contends with nothing. Its power is exactly that it does not fight.
After awakening, a teacher chops wood and carries water as before. Nothing dramatic shows, yet everyone in the room can feel that the fear is gone.
Epictetus said he longed to be shown one person actually formed by the teaching, not merely able to recite it. Such a person would be recognized at once.
