Whether a man uses power to collect a debt or feed a nation is set by how he reads his worst years. Reassigning who stands behind an injury changes the emotion attached to it, and emotion decides what a man does with authority once he holds it.

SELF-HELP
Whether a man uses power to collect a debt or feed a nation is set by how he reads his worst years.
Reassigning who stands behind an injury changes the emotion attached to it, and emotion decides what a man does with authority once he holds it. Held as something brothers did to him, those years produce grievance, and grievance uses power to collect. Held as something God did for him, the identical years become an apprenticeship, and apprenticeship uses power to feed people.
Nothing in the betrayal shrank by being re-read; what changed is what it was allowed to build. Refusing that re-read keeps a man's injury as his entire identity and costs him every capacity the suffering was building in him.

What stands in the way becomes the way. The obstacle trains the capacity you will need later.
The sage holds power and does not grasp. Strength that has nothing to prove is the only strength safe to hand to someone.
The one who is steady in loss and in gain is fit to act. Whoever still keeps score will use whatever power they get to settle it.
