PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

Two natures are held together here. The donkey and its colt stand for the animal drive in a person, the part that pulls and kicks. Tying that animal to the vine does not kill the drive. It fastens the instinct beside the source of life, where something can feed and change it.

The wine shows what that change looks like. Washing your clothes in it means letting the deep, transforming part of you soak through the everyday outer self. The stain in the cloth shows the change has reached the surface, so a person's hidden inner life and visible outer life have finally become one.

SUFISM

Sufism

Everything in this blessing overflows. The animal is tied to the best vine, the clothes are soaked not in water but in wine, as if abundance were too ordinary to save. The danger in such plenty is a heart that grips it, hoarding the vine and fearing the loss. The cure is to loosen the hand and give from the overflow the way the vine gives grapes.

A press does not keep the fruit for itself. The One who filled this scene with color is showing His generosity, so that whoever receives might learn to spill it forward.

Live Genesis 49:11 today

  1. Rather than fighting an appetite head on, hand it something real. If you want to scroll, call someone. If you want to eat, cook. The energy wants somewhere to go.
  2. When your temper or your want shows up in front of someone you love, say what you feel instead of either swallowing it or spilling it.
  3. Let one thing you have changed inside show up on the outside today, in how you answer an email or how you speak in the grocery line. A change nobody can see is not finished yet.

What do I keep trying to kill off in myself that might actually be waiting to be put to use?

The senses are horses, the mind the reins, and the self the rider. Unharnessed they bolt, held well they carry you home.

The ox is never killed. It is found, roped, ridden, and at last walks home on its own.
