The strength that holds firm under every arrow of the world was never the mind's own. A mind that is tempted to defend itself, to draw its own weapon against those it fears, discovers that the only power it has borrows entirely from love.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The strength that holds firm under every arrow of the world was never the mind's own. A mind that is tempted to defend itself, to draw its own weapon against those it fears, discovers that the only power it has borrows entirely from love. What steadies it comes from beyond the ego, from the changeless Self that was never in danger and so never needed to fight.
When a mind stops trying to be strong alone, it finds it is already held. That is the shepherd within and the unshakable ground beneath it: the certainty that love, not fear, is what truly sustains us, and it cannot be taken away by anything that seems to threaten from outside.
Bow: the mind's readiness to defend and attack, which stands firm only when its strength is drawn from love and not from fear Arms and hands: the mind's power to act in the world, made real only when guided by the strength beyond the ego Shepherd: the gentle Teacher within who leads the mind home when it stops leading itself Stone: the changeless foundation of the Self, the ground that fear cannot shake
Christian Psychology lens
Where am I trying to be strong alone?
What is soft and yielding outlasts what is rigid and braced. The hard thing breaks first, and the water keeps going.
There is something in you that was never born and cannot be harmed. Fear can shake the body and the thoughts, but it cannot reach that.
You are carried far more than you are carrying. The moment you stop straining, you feel the hands that were always under you.
