Genesis 49:8 · World English Bible

Genesis 49:8 Meaning Judah

Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father’s sons will bow down before you.

What does Genesis 49:8 mean?

Judah is the right side of the brain, the seat of the anointed light, the children of light and the inner sun toward which the other faculties turn. Praised by the brethren because it rules among the 12 as the lion rules its sign, it is the center from which the higher consciousness governs the rest of the parts.

Judah is the right side of the brain, the seat of the anointed light, the children of light and the inner sun toward which the other faculties turn. Praised by the brethren because it rules among the 12 as the lion rules its sign, it is the center from which the higher consciousness governs the rest of the parts. Its hand laid on the neck of the enemies is the higher light taking hold at the narrow passage of the throat, the bridge between the body below and the head above, where the lower urges are seized and put under.

The father's children bowing before it are the faculties of a person yielding to the right-brain seat of light. What rules here is the sun of consciousness, and everything lower bends toward it.

Live Genesis 49:8 today

  1. Pick one small appetite today, the extra scroll, the second helping, the reply you want to fire off, and let the clearer part of you be the one who decides, kindly and without a fight.
  2. In a conversation where you feel the urge to cut in and win, hold the words at your throat for three seconds and let the steadier part of you choose what actually comes out.
  3. When something goes wrong and the heat rises, name out loud or in your head which part of you is talking right now, and let the one that can see the whole situation take the wheel.

Which part of me has been running my day, and did I ever actually give it the job?

The self is the rider in the chariot and the senses are the horses. When the rider holds the reins the whole team moves as one, and when they do not the horses take the chariot.

The ruling part of you is the one thing that can govern the rest. Let it be the master and the appetites fall into line behind it.

The mind, when it is trained and governed, is a greater help than anything else a person could receive. Untrained, it does more harm than an enemy could.
