Genesis 8:22 Meaning While the Earth Remains

While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.

What does Genesis 8:22 mean?

Seedtime is the moment you imagine a state and feel it to be so, and harvest is that same state returned to you as fact. The two are bound by a law as steady as the seasons: nothing sown stays underground, and nothing reaped was unsown.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

Seedtime is the moment you imagine a state and feel it to be so, and harvest is that same state returned to you as fact. The two are bound by a law as steady as the seasons: nothing sown stays underground, and nothing reaped was unsown. Every condition you now meet came up from an imaginal seed planted earlier, whether you remember planting it or not.

The pairs, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, are the swing of moods and conditions a person passes through, and none of them cancels the law running underneath. This is why the inner life is watched so closely. A seed of resentment ripens into its own kind of harvest as surely as a seed of goodwill does, each after its own nature. While you live, you are always planting something in feeling. What you tend inwardly today is the crop you gather in the world tomorrow.

Live Genesis 8:22 today

  1. Pick one thought you have been feeding this week, resentment at someone, a story about how it always goes badly, and stop watering it today. Put something you would actually like to harvest in its place.
  2. In a group chat or at dinner, resist adding the sharp line you know would land. That one small restraint is a seed too, and so was every one you planted before it.
  3. In a bad hour, a delay, a snapping coworker, a late train, remind yourself the mood is weather, not the law. Plant the feeling you want to be living in next month, not the one the hour hands you.

What am I planting right now without calling it planting?

The same truth in other traditions

Buddhism · Dhammapada

What you dwell on becomes the shape of your mind, and the mind becomes the shape of your life. Each seed brings its own kind of fruit, never another kind.

Hinduism · Bhagavad Gita

You have a say in the sowing, not in the ripening. The law runs on whether or not you are watching it.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

The seasons turn, fortune swings, and none of it touches the steady rule underneath. Tend what is yours to tend and let the weather be weather.
