Hebrews 1:5 Meaning For to Which of the Angels Did

For to which of the angels did he say at any time, “You are my Son. Today I have become your father?” and again, “I will be to him a Father, and he will be to me a Son?”

What does Hebrews 1:5 mean?

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

No angel, no messenger or lesser state, is ever told this day I have begotten you. That word is spoken only to the son, and the son is what awakens inside a person when the awareness of being knows itself as the source of all. Father is the final name that awareness answers to, the name God gives last, once a person has passed through every earlier idea of what God is.

The begetting is not something that happened once to another man long ago. It is the inner revealing each person comes to, when he is claimed as son and knows the one claiming him is his own I am. The relation runs both ways in a single self: the awareness fathers the awakened one, and the awakened one is that same awareness knowing itself. A person meets God only as father to his own son.

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

The angels stand for the many scattered forces in a person, powers that stir the mind but never form one whole. To none of them is it said, "You are my son." That name is saved for a single figure, the image where all those forces come together: the deep pull toward wholeness in human form.

"Today I have become your father" names a real event inside a person. What someone usually feels only as a distant power outside them finally takes shape in one waking human being. This is a birth: the hidden center of the mind stops being a remote idea and becomes a living, conscious self in a real person.

Live Hebrews 1:5 today

  1. Before you reach for the phone in the morning, sit still and say to yourself, quietly, "I am," and stop there. No name, no job, no to-do list, just that.
  2. Today, look at one person, a cashier, a coworker, your kid, and remember that the same awareness is looking out of them. Speak to them like that is true.
  3. When someone's opinion of you stings, hold still and remember that what you are isn't up for a vote. Let their comment be weather, not a verdict.

Who am I when I set down every label I use to answer that question?
