Ego v. Being

When life gives you everything you asked for, a subtle danger arises. The mind, satisfied, mistakes the abundance for its own achievement, and something in you swells. This is the ego feeding on good fortune. While you were hungry, you still reached toward the Source. Now that you are full, you turn away from it, because you no longer feel your need.

Nothing has been taken from you. You have simply stopped noticing the deeper reality behind the surface of your comfort. Contentment turned inward on itself and forgot to look up. That is how being filled makes you forget: fullness quiets the very ache that once kept you awake to what sustains you.

What have you stopped being grateful for simply because you now have enough of it?
