Isaiah 11:10 · World English Bible

Isaiah 11:10 Meaning It Will Happen in That Day

It will happen in that day that the nations will seek the root of Jesse, who stands as a banner of the peoples; and his resting place will be glorious.

What does Isaiah 11:10 mean?

A root is what remains when the visible tree is cut down, the living source hidden beneath the surface. Something rises from that deep place and stands like a raised signal that people cannot help but turn toward.

Ego v. Being

A root is what remains when the visible tree is cut down, the living source hidden beneath the surface. Something rises from that deep place and stands like a raised signal that people cannot help but turn toward. It draws them not by argument but by presence, the way stillness in one person is felt by everyone in the room.

And what they are drawn to is called rest, and the rest is glorious. This is the discovery that peace is not dull or empty but radiant, the most alive thing there is. When a being lives fully from the source instead of from the restless mind, that peace becomes visible, and others sense in it what they have been searching for. They come not to acquire something new but to remember the same depth in themselves.

Live Isaiah 11:10 today

  1. Instead of planning what to post or say today, spend part of your commute or walk just being quiet and awake. See whether something in you settles that you were not able to argue yourself into.
  2. At family dinner or with a friend who is upset, try not fixing. Just be calm and fully there with them, and watch how much the calm itself does.
  3. In a tense room today, be the one person not adding charge. You will feel how much a single settled person changes the temperature.

Who has calmed you just by being in the room, and what were they doing?

The sage does not display himself, so people see him. He does not argue, so people trust him. Presence persuades where pressing never could.
