Isaiah 28:16 · World English Bible

Isaiah 28:16 Meaning Therefore the Lord Yahweh Says

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation. He who believes shall not act hastily.

What does Isaiah 28:16 mean?

The stone laid in Zion is your own human imagination, the very thing the ordinary man rejects and overlooks, set down as the one foundation on which everything he builds must rest. Zion is the eternal home of God, meaning within you, and the stone laid there is precious and tested because assuming a state and staying with it has never once failed to bring that state to pass.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The stone laid in Zion is your own human imagination, the very thing the ordinary man rejects and overlooks, set down as the one foundation on which everything he builds must rest. Zion is the eternal home of God, meaning within you, and the stone laid there is precious and tested because assuming a state and staying with it has never once failed to bring that state to pass. This is God's cornerstone, and it is the power you carry and mostly ignore.

He that believeth shall not make haste, and the calm is the point. A man who knows his imagining is the foundation feels no need to rush or force the outcome. He has made his assumption, he trusts it as sure, and he leaves it to harden into fact in its own time. Impatience betrays a man who does not yet believe his own inner act. Certainty rests, and waits without strain, because it knows the stone already holds.

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

The stone in the ground is one of the oldest images the mind uses for its own center, the part of a person that stays steady through every mood and change. Ancient people set it outside them, in a holy city, though it always described something within: the quiet core beneath the restless everyday self.

To believe in this stone is to trust that the inner center will hold. A man who has felt it stops running from himself. He no longer acts in a panic, because he knows the ground beneath him will not give way.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Clinical Psychology

Something must be trustworthy enough to build a life upon. The promise is of a foundation stone already tested under pressure, laid so that whoever rests his weight there will not have to scramble in panic. It held. Faith here means the freedom to stop rushing.

The man who has nothing solid beneath him hurries everywhere, grasping, because he cannot afford to be still. Stand on what has proven it will bear you, and the frantic haste falls away. Build on the tried stone, and you can finally slow down.

Live Isaiah 28:16 today

  1. Stop checking today. The inbox, the numbers, the message you are waiting on, leave it for a few hours and let the quiet be your proof rather than your worry.
  2. When someone asks how it is going, answer calmly instead of talking yourself into doubt. Say the steady version out loud and let them hear it.
  3. When the deadline tightens and you want to force something, slow one notch instead. Do the next real step well, and let the rushing stay out of your hands.

What am I rushing, and what would change if I trusted it was already holding?
