Isaiah 29:18 Meaning In That Day
In that day, the deaf will hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind will see out of obscurity and out of darkness.

Isaiah 29:18 · World English Bible
In that day, the deaf will hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind will see out of obscurity and out of darkness.
There is a kind of deafness that has nothing to do with the ears, and a blindness the eyes cannot cause. It is the noise of thinking that deafens you to life, the veil of the mind that darkens what is already here.
From the Ego v. Being reading below.
The same verse, read by 2 traditions.

EGO & BEING
There is a kind of deafness that has nothing to do with the ears, and a blindness the eyes cannot cause. It is the noise of thinking that deafens you to life, the veil of the mind that darkens what is already here.
Then comes the day, which is not a date on any calendar but the moment you grow still and present. In that stillness the noise falls away and you begin to see out of the obscurity what was always in front of you. Nothing about the world has changed. You have simply become present enough to notice the life that was here all along.

AWARENESS
Deafness here is the noise of the mind, thought so continuous that nothing from outside can enter. A man reads scripture for forty years and hears only his own commentary running underneath the words. The blindness is the same, a screen of concepts laid over everything, so that seeing becomes recognizing.
That day sits on no calendar. It arrives whenever thinking falls quiet for a moment, and then the words open, because someone is finally present to receive them. What was obscure was never the book. Something inside was crowded, and now it has room.
Ego v. Being lens
What have I been looking straight at all week without seeing?
The moon is always in the sky, but clouds hide it. Practice does not make a new moon, it lets the clouds pass.
Muddy water left undisturbed becomes clear by itself. Nothing is added, only the stirring stops.
The Self is said to be ever present, hidden only by the restless mind that keeps looking elsewhere. What is nearest is what gets missed.
