until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is considered a forest.

What does Isaiah 32:15 mean?

There is a barrenness in a life lived entirely in the head, cut off from being. It feels like a wilderness, dry and without depth, no matter how full the outer circumstances appear.

Ego v. Being

There is a barrenness in a life lived entirely in the head, cut off from being. It feels like a wilderness, dry and without depth, no matter how full the outer circumstances appear.

Then presence descends, not as an idea but as a felt aliveness, and the inner desert begins to bear fruit. What was dead in you comes alive. This is not something you achieve through effort. It happens when you become still and let awareness in, and slowly what was empty grows dense and living, like a field becoming a forest.

Live Isaiah 32:15 today

  1. Give yourself ten minutes with no input today, no podcast, no feed, no music. It will feel empty for a while, and then it will not.
  2. Have one conversation where you are not half somewhere else. Let the pauses sit there without filling them, and feel how much more alive the exchange becomes.
  3. When the day feels dry and mechanical, stop and feel your hands and your breath for thirty seconds before the next task. You are not adding anything, you are letting something in.

Where in your life does everything look full on the outside and feel thin on the inside?

Tao Te Ching 37

Stop forcing and things come into their own flowering on their own. The grower does not pull the stalk upward.

Zen

Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes and the grass grows by itself. The aliveness was never waiting on your effort.
