Isaiah 42:14 Meaning I Have Been Silent a Long Time
I have been silent a long time. I have been quiet and restrained myself. Now I will cry out like a travailing woman. I will both gasp and pant.

Isaiah 42:14 · World English Bible
I have been silent a long time. I have been quiet and restrained myself. Now I will cry out like a travailing woman. I will both gasp and pant.
There is a stillness that can hold its peace for a very long time, and the mind mistakes it for weakness or absence. But stillness is not emptiness.

EGO & BEING
There is a stillness that can hold its peace for a very long time, and the mind mistakes it for weakness or absence. But stillness is not emptiness. It is the ground from which all creative power arises, gathering silently until the moment of birth.
When that moment comes, it can feel like the pains of a woman in labor, an intensity that seems to destroy everything old at once. What is being consumed is not you. It is the outworn structures of the ego, the false self that cannot survive the arrival of something new. The long silence was not inaction; it was the gathering of power, and now that power brings a new state of consciousness to birth.

AWARENESS
Long silence is pregnancy, not emptiness. Something gathers in a man who has stopped chattering, gathers for years with no visible sign, and others see only stillness while a whole new being takes shape in him.
Then the eruption, and from outside it will look like agony. Birth pain is not suffering. Suffering is unawareness dragging a man where he never chose to go, while these cries carry something forward, and the gasping is energy grown too large for the old shape to hold. Whoever has waited through such a silence does not clamp down when it breaks open; he lets it tear him.
Ego v. Being lens
What in me has been quiet for a long time, getting ready?
The use of the wheel is the empty hub, and the use of the room is the empty space. What looks like nothing there is what makes everything work.
The seed sits in the dark doing nothing visible, and that is exactly the work. What breaks the husk open is not violence but the life inside it.
Do not run from the breaking. The grain is ground before it becomes bread, and what is lost was only the shell.
