CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Clinical Psychology

Empires drunk on their own glory believe the party never ends. The judgment falls on the arrogance itself. A city that lounged in luxury and mocked the suffering it caused finds its splendor stripped away, and what it hid beneath the finery is shown to everyone. Pride ends undressed.

The force that undoes such a power answers to nothing the proud can offer, and no rival can flatter or bribe it. That is what the mighty forget. Something larger than their empire keeps the books, and when the account comes due, no wealth and no cunning postpones it.

Live Isaiah 47:3 today

  1. Think of one thing you quietly feel superior about today, how you eat, how you work, how you parent. Hold it for a second and ask what you would be without it.
  2. When someone is wrong in a conversation today and you have the perfect takedown ready, let it go. Winning in front of people costs more than it pays.
  3. If a deserved win lands today, a compliment, a promotion, a post that does well, say thank you and leave it there. Do not go back to check how many people saw it.

What are you hoping nobody looks at too closely?

The same truth in other traditions

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

He reminded himself that Alexander and his mule driver ended in the same place. Rank and splendor are borrowed, and the lender always collects.

Tao Te Ching 9

Fill a cup to the brim and it spills. Sharpen a blade to its limit and it dulls. Riches and pride invite their own undoing.

Bhagavad Gita

Time is described as the great devourer that consumes all beings regardless of their standing. Nothing built on self-glory outlasts it.
