EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

Come near and hear this. What is being pointed to has never been hidden. From the beginning it has spoken openly, because it is not a secret teaching but the simple fact of presence, always here, closer than your own breath.

You do not have to travel to find it or earn it through years of searching. To come near is only to become still and present now. It was never spoken in secret. It has been quietly available in every moment of your life, waiting for you to stop and notice it.

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

The one speaking is not a distant figure in the sky. It is the deeper center of a person, present from the start and never hidden. It has always spoken through dreams and the events that seize us, though the waking mind rarely listens.

"Come near and hear" is the call to turn inward at last. Anyone who does finds this center was already there at every turning point, shaping a path they thought they walked alone. So when a person feels "sent with his Spirit," it means this inner center has finally taken hold and moved them to act.

Live Isaiah 48:16 today

  1. At some ordinary moment today, washing a dish, waiting for the kettle, stop and let it be enough. Nothing has to be added to this for it to be real.
  2. Give one person your whole attention for the length of a conversation. No glances at the screen, no planning your reply, just there with them.
  3. When you feel behind and rushed, pause at a red light or between meetings and feel your feet on the ground. You are already where life is happening.

What have I been looking for that has been sitting here the whole time?

Tao Te Ching 47

You do not need to leave your house to know the way. The further people travel to find it, the less they tend to find.

Sufism · Rumi

You keep searching the world for what is nearer to you than your own neck. The seeking itself is what keeps the door seeming shut.
