CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Clinical Psychology

A man aligned with what is right can face any accuser without flinching. That composure is not arrogance. It rises from knowing the ground beneath him is solid. He has not built his life on deception, so nothing hidden waits for an enemy to drag into the light.

Integrity buys you that footing. When you have told the truth and carried your responsibilities, you can meet your opponents and invite the confrontation rather than dread it. The person with nothing to conceal fears no examination. Order your inner house honestly, and you can stand upright in any storm.

Live Isaiah 50:8 today

  1. Think of one small thing you have shaded or left out of a story recently. Correct the record today, even if nobody would have caught it.
  2. If there is a conversation you have been avoiding because you know you were partly in the wrong, start it. Lead with your own part before you mention theirs.
  3. When you get criticized today, in a meeting, in a message, in a comment, hold still for a second before defending. If it is true, say so. If it is not, you will not need volume to say that either.

What would you stop bracing for if you had nothing left to hide?

The same truth in other traditions

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

If you have done what is right, he said, what else do you need? The approval of an onlooker adds nothing to a straight action.

Analects of Confucius

The person of integrity is calm and unworried, while the small-minded person is forever anxious. Clean conduct is the source of that calm.

Tao Te Ching 22

Because the sage does not contend, no one can contend with them. Standing on solid ground removes the need to fight for footing.
