Isaiah 57:19 Meaning I Create the Fruit of the Lips

I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace, to him who is far off and to him who is near,” says Yahweh; “and I will heal them.

What does Isaiah 57:19 mean?

Peace is not something the mind produces by arranging your life until nothing disturbs it. It is created, given, arising from the stillness that is your deeper nature beneath the noise of thought.

Ego v. Being

Peace is not something the mind produces by arranging your life until nothing disturbs it. It is created, given, arising from the stillness that is your deeper nature beneath the noise of thought. This is why the same peace belongs to the one far off and the one near. Distance here is not measured in space.

Whether you feel close to the source of life or utterly cut off from it, the same depth is present within you at this very moment, waiting only to be noticed. When you grow still and turn your attention inward, away from the story of your problems, that peace is what remains, and in it you are healed.

Live Isaiah 57:19 today

  1. On a day when you feel flat and far from everything, sit quietly for two minutes anyway without trying to fix the mood. The depth underneath does not care how the surface feels.
  2. Reach out to the person you assume is doing fine. Closeness is not measured by how often you talk, and the one who seems nearest may be the one furthest from rest.
  3. Between two stressful calls, take sixty seconds with no screen and let your attention drop out of the problem and into your breathing. The stillness was there the whole time, under the noise.

When I feel most cut off, what would change if the peace I am looking for were already here?
