Isaiah 65:1 · World English Bible

Isaiah 65:1 Meaning I Am Inquired of by Those

I am inquired of by those who didn’t ask. I am found by those who didn’t seek me. I said, ‘See me, see me,’ to a nation that was not called by my name.

What does Isaiah 65:1 mean?

What you are looking for is looking out through your eyes as you search for it. This is why it is found by those who were not seeking, and why the desperate search so often fails.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

What you are looking for is looking out through your eyes as you search for it. This is why it is found by those who were not seeking, and why the desperate search so often fails. Seeking casts the sacred into some future moment or far place, and so keeps missing what is already here.

The one who was not even calling out suddenly notices a presence that was never absent. Behold me, behold me. The invitation is not to travel or to strive, but simply to stop and see. When the seeking mind grows quiet, you notice that what you were looking for is the aware presence that has been here in you all along.

AWARENESS

Indian Guru

Seeking is the mind reaching forward into a future it invented, and the reaching itself is what hides the treasure. Those who stop asking come upon it, because in the gap where desire falls silent the witness is uncovered, and it was never absent.

The calling that goes unheard is not coming from some distance. It is the awareness inside you, announcing itself every moment while the mind stays busy with borrowed names and inherited beliefs. Drop the search for a while, sit without wanting anything, and what you were chasing is already sitting with you.

Live Isaiah 65:1 today

  1. Stop one search today, for the right app, the right routine, the right next thing that will finally sort you out, and just sit still for two minutes instead.
  2. Spend time with someone without trying to get anything from the conversation. No advice to collect, no point to make, just being with them.
  3. When you feel the pressure to figure it all out right now, let your attention drop into your breathing for a few seconds. The answer is rarely in more searching.

What if the thing I keep looking for is what is doing the looking?

The same truth in other traditions

Zen · Dogen

He said practice is not a search for enlightenment somewhere ahead. Sitting down fully in this moment is already it.

Tao Te Ching 1

The more you grasp at the way with words and effort, the further it slips. Let the grasping go and it is simply there.

Sufism · Rumi

He spent years calling out before realizing that the calling itself was the answer arriving. The seeker and the sought were never two things.
