James 3:18 · World English Bible
Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
Whatever you create carries the quality of the state you are in when you create it. Act from resentment or fear, and no matter how noble the cause, that same disturbance takes root and grows in the world around you.

EGO & BEING
Whatever you create carries the quality of the state you are in when you create it. Act from resentment or fear, and no matter how noble the cause, that same disturbance takes root and grows in the world around you. But when you become still within and meet the moment without the compulsion to resist it, a different seed is planted.
Peace is not the reward waiting at the end. It is the soil. When you act from inner stillness, what grows from your life is naturally good, because your actions can only carry into the world the peace they came from.

BUDDHISM
Kamma: Deeds and their fruit Sowing and reaping is the oldest way of speaking about what actions do. Nobody scatters thistle seed and walks back out expecting figs, and a peacemaker's harvest works by the same plain rule: the quiet word that cooled a quarrel is already in the ground doing its slow work. The crop carries the character of the seed, so a sentence spoken to win an argument and a sentence spoken to end one grow into different fields.
Sammā vācā: Right speech Words are the peacemaker's main tool, and the strand that counts here is speech that leaves a grievance where it was heard and brings the divided back into one room. The same tongue that catches like a spark in dry grass becomes the hand that scatters seed. Every slight left unrepeated is a fire that never starts, and every word that cools a temper goes into the soil and stays.
Mettā: Loving-kindness Goodwill is the condition the seed goes into the ground in, and it has to reach both sides of the quarrel. A farmer does not water one corner of the field and let the rest dry out. Wishing well to the person who wronged your friend is what makes the work peacemaking at all.
Khanti: Patience Nothing comes up the day it is planted. Anyone stepping between two angry people takes heat from both and has to stand there without answering, and that standing is most of the work for a long stretch. Fields are worked in seasons, and this fruit keeps that pace: weeks with nothing showing above the soil.
Santi: Peace Peace is the ground and the harvest at once, since it is what the sowing happens in and what eventually comes up. A quarrel patched over while both parties still want to win puts up the same weeds next spring, so the settledness of the sower's own mind is part of the seed. Anyone who has calmed a room while still furious inside knows the difference: the quiet holds for an hour, then splits open.
Ego v. Being lens
What are you planting today without meaning to, by the mood you are working from?
Everything begins in the mind. Act from a troubled mind and trouble follows you like a wheel follows the ox, act from a clear one and ease follows just as surely.
The way does nothing by force, and everything grows anyway. When a person stops meddling and acts from quiet, things settle into order by themselves.
What harms you is not the event but the agitation you add to it. Clear that agitation first, and whatever you do next will be clean.
