Jeremiah 15:20 Meaning I Will Make You to This People

I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall. They will fight against you, but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you,” says Yahweh.

What does Jeremiah 15:20 mean?

When you are rooted in the stillness beneath your thoughts, the hostility of others comes toward you, yet it finds nothing to break. They fight the outer form, the personality, the name, and these may bend, but the awareness in which you live cannot be touched.

Ego v. Being

When you are rooted in the stillness beneath your thoughts, the hostility of others comes toward you, yet it finds nothing to break. They fight the outer form, the personality, the name, and these may bend, but the awareness in which you live cannot be touched.

This is what it means to become a wall. Not hardness or resistance, but presence so deep that no attack reaches the one who is aware. What saves you is not a force arriving from outside. It is the consciousness at your core, and because it was never in conflict, nothing can defeat it.

  1. Next time your mind replays an argument while you are alone in the car or doing dishes, let the replay run without joining it, and feel the quiet underneath it that is not arguing with anyone.
  2. When someone speaks to you sharply, let a breath pass before you answer, and stand in that breath. You are not deciding what to fire back, you are simply being there, awake, while their words land and pass.
  3. In a meeting where your work gets picked apart, let the critique touch the work and not you. Your name and your draft can be dented. What is listening cannot.

When a hard word comes at you, what part of you reaches out to get hit?

Tao Te Ching 78

Water is the softest thing there is, yet nothing outlasts it against stone. What yields cannot be broken, because there is nothing rigid in it for a blow to catch.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Things that happen to the body and the reputation can be struck at, but the part of you that judges and is aware is untouchable unless it agrees to be harmed. No one can injure that without your consent.

Zen

A bell rung hard gives back only sound, not injury. The empty space inside is what lets it take the strike and remain itself.
