CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Clinical Psychology

A man who has aligned himself with what is highest becomes strangely unafraid of the mob. Jeremiah was mocked and hunted for telling the truth, and he found that the thing standing beside him was not gentle. It was terrible in the old sense, a power that inspires awe. When you serve that, the crowd loses its grip on you.

Those who build on deceit stumble in the end, and their collapse is remembered. Lies have a short half-life. They cannot bear weight over time, and eventually the whole edifice comes apart and shames the men who raised it. The man who tells the truth may suffer, but he is still standing when their schemes have fallen into confusion.

Live Jeremiah 20:11 today

  1. Say out loud, alone in your car or your kitchen, the one true thing you have been softening for other people. Hear how it sounds when nobody is grading it.
  2. The next time a group chat turns into a pile-on, write the honest sentence instead of the popular one. Short, kind, no hedging.
  3. In the meeting where the room has already agreed, let your answer come from what is actually true rather than from who is watching. You can be outnumbered and still be steady.

What would I say today if I were not counting who would be on my side afterward?

The same truth in other traditions

Tao Te Ching 22

The one who does not contend with the crowd cannot be opposed by it. What bends with truth outlasts what hardens into display.

Stoicism · Epictetus

No mob can touch what is actually yours, your judgment and your choices. They can only threaten the things that were never in your keeping.

Bhagavad Gita 2

Act because the act is right, not because the result will favor you. The man rooted there is not shaken by praise or by hatred.
