Jeremiah 31:4 · World English Bible

Jeremiah 31:4 Meaning I Will Build You Again

I will build you again, and you will be built, O virgin of Israel. You will again be adorned with your tambourines, and will go out in the dances of those who make merry.

What does Jeremiah 31:4 mean?

The rebuilding is the restoration of consciousness once it separates from the noise of thought, and the virgin of Israel is exactly that: awareness held clear of the mind's chatter, the pure state waiting to be raised again. Israel itself opens as Isis the spirit, Ra the mind, and El the God within, so the one being rebuilt is the whole inner order coming back into tune.

The tabrets and the dancing are the celestial harmony that returns to a person who reaches this stillness, the planets circling their center, feeling moving in step with spirit.

A consciousness that has gone quiet is not left empty; it is adorned and set moving in the ordered dance of its own inner heavens.

Virgin of Israel: consciousness separated from thought, pure awareness raised again Israel: Isis the spirit, Ra the mind, and El the God within, the whole inner order Tabrets: the instruments of inner harmony that sound when stillness returns Dances of them that make merry: the orbiting rhythm of the inner heavens moving in tune

Live Jeremiah 31:4 today

  1. Give yourself five minutes today with no input, no podcast, no scrolling, just sitting. You are not emptying yourself, you are letting things fall back into place.
  2. Eat one meal with someone today without screens on the table. The ordinary rhythm of a shared meal does more for you than most of what the phone was offering.
  3. When the day gets loud and scattered, stand still for three breaths before you answer whatever is next. Order does not come from pushing harder, it comes back on its own once you stop stirring.

What in me might come back into tune if I gave it a few quiet minutes?

Tao Te Ching 16

Return to stillness and you return to your root, and from the root everything moves rightly again. Quiet is not emptiness, it is where the order comes back.

Hinduism · Bhagavad Gita

When the restless mind settles, the self is seen as it is and the whole being comes into tune. What looked like loss of activity turns out to be arrival.

Sufism · Rumi

The stilled heart does not go silent, it starts to hear the music it was too loud to hear before. Everything in it begins to move in time.
