Jeremiah 46:27 · World English Bible

Jeremiah 46:27 Meaning But Don’t You Be Afraid

But don’t you be afraid, Jacob my servant. Don’t be dismayed, Israel; for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob will return, and will be quiet and at ease. No one will make him afraid.

What does Jeremiah 46:27 mean?

The captivity you long to be freed from is not somewhere far away. It is the imprisonment of a mind lost in its own fears, dragged endlessly between a remembered past and an imagined future, never at rest in the only place life actually happens.

Ego v. Being

The captivity you long to be freed from is not somewhere far away. It is the imprisonment of a mind lost in its own fears, dragged endlessly between a remembered past and an imagined future, never at rest in the only place life actually happens.

But you will return, and be at rest and at ease. This return is not a journey across any distance; it is a coming back to the present moment, which has been here all along. When you stop living in fearful thought and settle into the awareness of now, fear loses its grip, not because your circumstances changed, but because you are no longer living in the imagined future where fear survives.

Live Jeremiah 46:27 today

  1. For one walk today, leave the earbuds out and let your attention land on what is actually around you, air, light, the sound of your own steps. You are not going anywhere, you are arriving.
  2. When someone is talking to you, put the phone down and give them the whole minute. Most of the time we are half here and half in the next thing.
  3. When your mind starts the familiar loop about what might go wrong next month, say to yourself that none of that is here. Then name three things that are actually in the room.

What prison am I living in that exists only in my own thoughts?

Do not chase the past or long for the future. There is one moment that can actually be lived, and you are standing in it.
