Jeremiah 6:10 Meaning To Whom Should I Speak and Testify

To whom should I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they can’t listen. Behold, Yahweh’s word has become a reproach to them. They have no delight in it.

What does Jeremiah 6:10 mean?

The inner hearing is sealed under flesh, so the word that would loosen the lower nature lands instead as an insult. The ear is uncircumcised, its opening covered by the excess of the animal self, and truth cannot enter where the crude growth has not been cut away.

Esoteric

The inner hearing is sealed under flesh, so the word that would loosen the lower nature lands instead as an insult. The ear is uncircumcised, its opening covered by the excess of the animal self, and truth cannot enter where the crude growth has not been cut away.

Circumcision is the trimming of that excess, the removal of the surplus lower nature so the passage lies open. Because the flesh takes no pleasure in what would weaken its grip, the very sound that offers release feels like reproach, and a person so covered cannot hear.

Ear: the inner organ of hearing, sealed shut when the excess of the lower nature covers its opening.

  1. Put your phone in another room for one hour and let yourself be bored. The first twenty minutes feel like a punishment, and that reaction is worth watching.
  2. The next time feedback stings, wait a full day before responding, then ask whether the sting came from the words being unfair or from them being accurate. Most of us can tell if we give it a day.
  3. In a meeting where someone says the thing you don't want to hear, don't defend. Ask one follow-up question instead and let the answer land.

What have I been calling rude or unfair that might just be true?

The wound is where the light gets in, and the ego will fight anything that makes that opening. What feels like insult is often the first honest touch.

The senses turned outward and well fed keep the inner hearing closed. Drawing them back, as a turtle draws in its limbs, is what lets the quieter voice reach you.
